Cutarte members present a mouth-watering mix of painting, sculpture and ceramics
For the last 18 months, professional artists Ann Westley, Judy Farrar, Helén Vigil and Rudy Vigil have been curating highly sucessful exhibitions by visiting artists and the local community at Galería Cutarte in Cútar - the hillside village they have all made their home. For their final show of the season the group is presenting a wide selection of their own work - including a good number of very recent pieces, many of which take inspiration from the area.
Like the group itself, the exhibition is a vibrant mixture of contrasting styles and approaches. Ann's acrylic paintings in jewel-like colours include portraits of Spanish women both real and imaginary, the 'campo' of Cútar and still life arrangements of ceramics from the local market. Helén's 'No Pasa Nada' is a new collection of paintings and ceramics also inspired by her adopted Spanish homeland. Judy's newsprint figures allow us a glimpse of her subjects' lives, caught a moment in time, while Rudy's striking and sometimes startling paintings combine faces, landscapes and some of the millions of other images that inundate us each day.
Open evening with drinks and snacks 10th October from 19.30 to 22.00
If you can’t make the opening, the exhibition is open during the Monfi Fiesta on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October, and then every Sunday from 18.00 – 21.00 up to and including 10th November.
