An exhibition of the vibrant paintings and sculptures of Australian artist, Gleny Köhnke, will fascinate all those who have ever lived in the tropics or who dream of this type of paradise. Köhnke was brought up in Papua New Guinea, lived amongst the villagers painting and writing about their customs. In one New Guinea village she was the only woman to ever accompany the villagers on their shark calling and trapping expeditions. Since then she has travelled widely in many tropical countries of the world This exciting exhibition features many African wild animals, with special emphasis on the elephant and the danger of extinction of many species. In a series of five large paintings we see the elephant with her back to us, gradually fading away along with an ever diminishing moon in the background. Gleny Köhnke has lived and worked in the countryside near Churriana for the last 20 years, and has had 27 exhibitions and is represented in many private and public collections throughout the world.
