Age Care President, Tony Bellamy and Advice Centre Manager, Claudia D. Langer were interviewed by Karen McMahon of Mijas TV 340. Their mission was to inform the viewers of the urgent need for volunteers. Age Care is a registered charity entirely run by volunteers whose aim is to help the local older English speaking community on the Costa del Sol from Benalmádena to Marbella. Age Care has three types of volunteers: those who help in the Charity’s Shop in El Zoco from 10am to 4pm once a week; welfare volunteers who visit clients in their homes, take clients to coffee mornings or shopping, or to attend hospital and doctor appointments – obviously welfare volunteers should have their own transport. Then for the Advice Centre, Age Care is looking for a special type of volunteer who can give their time, once a week from 10am to 2pm to offer information to the local older English speaking community. The Advice Centre volunteers must be English/Spanish speaking and have administrative & computer skills. Particularly important is that they should have been living in Spain for a while and be familiar with the bureaucracy which can be confusing! If you are interested in giving your time to help the local older English speaking community, please contact Beverley Morland, Vice President, on 675 874 308 email: info@agecarecosta.org, or pop into the Age Care Charity Shop in El Zoco, Calahonda – and pick up a bargain too!
