Age Concern – Shop Volunteers Get-Together

Twenty-six of the Age Concern shop volunteers gathered in the Age Concern Centre in Calle Zaragoza, 25, Estepona last Wednesday (26th) for a get-together. Everyone bought some food along and enjoyed sharing that, plus a drink, as they got to know each other and chat about the work they undertake on behalf of the charity. An Executive Committee member welcomed them and stressed how important the work of running the shop was to the finances of the charity, particularly now that a Centre was being opened for elderly people in the area on February 7th.

Initially the centre will operate three mornings a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 to 13.00) and is open to all elderly people who want to come along for a chat, for advice and information, or simply to socialise.

If interested why not get in touch with us now on 951318234 (Monday to Friday, 10.00 to 13.30) and find out more and let us know if you will be coming along, or send an email to tonyaldous55@yahoo.co.uk

Age Concern – Sponsored Knit

Age Concern is holding a sponsored 24 hour knit in at their Drop-In-Centre at 25, Calle Zaragoza, Estepona from noon on Friday 4th March to noon on Saturday 5th March. Sponsorship is easy – 1€ a go to guess how many squares, in total, will be knitted in that 24 hours. Each square is 38 stitches by 38 rows. The sponsor nearest the total actually knitted (by at least two knitters) will win 50€ - if more than one person gets it right a draw will take place to decide the winner. Please support our knitters by calling Julie on 952913174. Or why not volunteer to knit – it is easy to register just call Julie on the number above– each knitter is being asked to do 2 hours.

For this to be a success we need a good supply of double knitting wool – if you have any you can spare, or are willing to donate some, please drop it off at our shop at 29, Calle Zaragoza, Estepona – open Monday to Saturday inclusive from 10.00 to 13.30.

Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Lifeline

For elderly people who require help or advice Age Concern operate a telephone service called Lifeline. This gives the individual a direct point of contact with the charity. The telephone number is 650163928. It should be noted that Age Concern is not an emergency service. There is also an email address where you can contact Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva.
