Age Care Advice Centre Manager, Claudia D. Langer was interviewed this week on Mijas TV 340 by Karen McMahon. Claudia wanted to inform viewers of the urgent need for volunteers. Age Care is looking for a special type of volunteer for their Advice Centre who can give their time, once a week from 10am to 2pm, to offer information to the local English speaking community. Claudia explained: 'Many English speaking residents visit our friendly Advice Centre in Doña Lola for information on, for example, how to access the Spanish health system or where do they go for their NIE, and are lost, or maybe frightened, because they don’t speak Spanish.'

Volunteers are particularly needed over the summer period. Someone who can speak English and Spanish and have administration & computer skills would be perfect. It is important that they have been living in Spain for a while and be familiar with the bureaucracy which can be so confusing – but full training will be given! So if you are staying in Spain this summer and can commit just one day a week, please contact Claudia at the Advice Centre on Tel 952 933 409, email: info@agecarecosta.org, or pop into Age Care’s Charity Shop in El Zoco, Calahonda – and pick up a bargain too!

Age Care’s Advice Centre is located at Doña Lola, Calahonda, Mijas Costa – next to Devine’s Restaurant and on the 220 bus route. It is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm and a Coffee Morning is held every Tuesday at 11am. Why not pop in and talk to us? We also need volunteers to organise events & trips such as quiz nights, games nights, theatre trips and larger events such as our Christmas Welfare Luncheon.

Age Care is a registered charity entirely run by volunteers whose aim is to help the local older English speaking community on the Costa del Sol from Benalmádena to Marbella.
