Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing, caring for and protecting donkeys, mules and horses. Since opening in June 2004, we have rescued hundreds of equines, cared for them and, where possible, moved them on to safe new homes. We have also given refuge to goats, pigs, chickens, cats, turkeys and sheep. We rely entirely on donations from the public and we receive no grants from the government.
According to tripadvisor we are the No.1 tourist attraction in Nerja. We are open to visitors every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays, and entrance is FREE. Our new opening hours are: 1st October - 30th April 10am to 4pm; 1st May – 30th September 10 am to 2pm AND 5pm to 8pm. You will find us near to the Nerja Arch, just off the N340, opposite the Repsol Butano gas bottle depot.
Donations of carrots, apples, stale bread, dry cat food, porridge oats, large black plastic bin bags and bric-a-brac are always welcomed.
