When I came to Carvajal 7 years ago I found a lovely apartment just across the road from the beach. The only downside to the location was the train track passing my terrace window. The trains were noisy but acceptable. Last year (not sure) new trains arrived on the line and the noise had practically disappeared. A few weeks ago all the trains seem to have developed a screeching noise so loud that it seems like a jet engine is passing my window. So loud I cannot hear my television. The trains run till the early hours of the morning disturbing my sleep every time they pass. Does anyone know what has happened to these trains that once glided past my windows?

The traction units are suffering from lack of maintenance and the air brakes are not releasing fully causing the screeching noise. If it is hot there is also the possibility that the compressors driving the air conditioning are working flat out and this could be a factor in the excessive noise.
